Workshop on Intelligent Transport Systems

A broad range of diverse technologies, known collectively as intelligent transportation systems (ITS), holds the answer to many of our transportation problems. ITS is comprised of a number of technologies, including information processing, communications, control, and electronics. Joining these technologies to our transportation system will save lives, time and money.  ITS enables people and goods to move more safely and efficiently through a state-of-the-art, intermodal transportation system. Simulating this aspect of transportation is one of the major challenges of our time. Submit your proposal here

Workshop NANOSIM

Simulation in long-term interdisciplinary research, simulation of supramolecular and macromolecular architectures, simulation in nanobiotechnologies, simulation of nanometric scale engineering techniques for creating materials and components, simulation of manipulator devices, simulation in nano applications related to chemicals and energy. Simulation of knowledge based multifunctional materials. Simulation of nano production processes and methods. Submit your proposal here

Workshop

Sim-Serv is the European Virtual Institute for Production Oriented Simulation Services. On its web site www.sim-serv.com a wide range of information around simulation and its application in industry is available:

- basic information on simulation, its power and benefits
- success stories on applications in various industry sectors
- presentations of tools, experts, companies and institutes offering services and tools
- academic papers
- news, events, and other relevant information

Sim-Serv's help desk and the self-evaluation tool on the web site help industrial users understand if and how they can take advantage of simulation technologies. Sim-Serv offers independent consultation and brings manufacturers in touch with suppliers of the solution they are looking for.

Sim-Serv runs several working groups on technical issues, where users and suppliers of simulation co-operate to develop innovative techniques.

Sim-Serv is open to new members at any time.

A special session is organised by Sim-Serv, the European Virtual Institute on Production Oriented Simulation Services. Sim-Serv operates a web site and offers a range of services to all those involved in simulation: researchers, tool developers, service providers, and industrial end users.

In this session, the objectives, organisation and services of Sim-Serv will be presented as well as the various features of the web site. Sim-Serv's operation will be illustrated by reports on several industrial case studies. The future development of the virtual institute and the advantages of membership will be discussed.

The structure of the session (tentative):

D. Boland, K. Juslin, J. Krauth: Sim-Serv, the European Virtual Institute on Production Oriented Simulation Services - its objectives, structure and services

B. Brand, J. Krauth, W. Krug: Simulation of Air Compressor Manufacturing: Layout Optimisation and Scheduling Support

Or

R. Maccioni, N.N.: Simulation of heavy equipment manufacture and assembly

T. Ture: Simulation of Plastics Processing

K. Honkoila, J. Krauth: The Sim-Serv web site and the benefits of membership
